Color Inspirations

Express Yourself Through Color

We Sell Color

That phrase is more than our tagline; it is truly what we do! Paint is the medium, but color is the result, and that result should be exactly what you want because you live with it every day.

Color can change our perception of the space around us, turning it cool, energetic, spacious or cozy.

Color awakens the senses and elevates your point of view.

Color Trends 2012

The result of world-wide research by color experts, "Color Trends 2012" is Benjamin Moore’s inspiring new collection of paint colors. Structured into four select color groups—Eclectic Elegance, Earth & Sky, Sense & Sensibility, and Spiced Life —"Color Trends 2012" can bring life to any home and transform the ordinary into the sublime.

Room colorPaint is the least expensive way to update your home and it can have the most dramatic effect on your space.

Color can change our perception of the space around us, turning it cool and energetic, spacious or cozy. There are three key steps that can help you with the process of color selection:

1. Find Inspiration

You can come up with ideas by creating a portfolio of what appeals to you: a favorite painting, the color of your baby's eyes, an unforgettable vacation in Mexico or that great hike in the Grand Canyon.

Choosing Colors
Watch this video for creative inspiration on choosing meaningful colors.

First, take into consideration your inspirational image's common denominators in terms of color. Do you like a variety of colors or particular shades and tints of a specific color? Do you like them bold or muted? Digging deep in the well of inspiration plays an important role in selecting and whittling down your choices.

2. Define the Mood

Secondly, is there a mood or theme that you would like to achieve in a particular space? Do you want a restful feel in the bedroom, or an energizing feel to the family room? The mood will lay the groundwork on the desired visual impact of a chosen paint color palette.

3. Use Key Elements in Your Home

Last but not least, take stock of all the key elements in your house. Do you have carpeting, hardwood floors, modern or antique furniture? The color of the flooring is an important consideration when you choose colors because it anchors the room and can impact the color on the wall due to reflections.

Furnishings also play an important role in determining the perfect color scheme for your house. Since these are usually the most expensive and not easily replaced items in the house, they tend to suggest a coordinating color scheme that ties everything together. An invaluable heirloom dining table, for example, will never be discarded because it doesn't match the wall color of the dining room.

Color SamplesPaint Samples – 600 Colors Available

Benjamin Moore Color Samples allow you to "try on" a color before you commit to the time and expense of painting an entire room. By sampling a color at home, you'll get the most accurate sense of how the color will actually look in the room. Each 2 oz. sample covers approximately a 2' X 2' area with two coats of paint. You can test a number of different colors at a time. You can also paint smaller test swatches on several walls to see how a particular color will look throughout a room.

Why Sample Color?

  • Deciding between several shades and tints of a particular color (light, medium or dark color)
  • Experimenting with several different colors before deciding on a color scheme for the room.
  • Determining how a particular color works with other colors in the room such as a vibrant rug.
  • Seeing how a particular color in a room will "flow" with the colors in adjoining rooms.
  • Seeing how different undertones of a color affect the feel of a room.
  • Seeing how a particular color is enhanced by lighting conditions.

Always view your colors in different lighting conditions:
